Afrikindness event in faith communities

The OpenSeat Mindful Meals is a community-driven initiative designed to bring people together in an informal setting to discuss matters that affect their well-being, with a focus on mental health. The event is part of the Afrikindness Community Empowerment Programme, with the goal of fostering deep conversations around the mental health challenges individuals and communities face. Using meals as a symbolic and practical platform for relationship-building, this event promotes mindful conversations about how we respond to problems emotionally and mentally, rather than focusing on finding immediate solutions. Key Objectives: Bring together community members to discuss safeguarding, mental health and well-being in a comfortable, informal setting. The conversation can be facilitated by the leaders of the community. Create a safe space for participants to share personal experiences, triggers, and strategies for managing mental health challenges. Promote mental health awareness and stress the importance of community and support in managing life’s challenges. Foster cross-cultural dialogue and build stronger community bonds through shared meals and conversations.
