Imagining Durban

What does it take to imagine from the depths of despair? And what purpose emerges if these imaginings could go viral? Could it reverse-engineer the flow of process, impact the direction of intervention towards more people/community-led initiatives? In this experiment, we aim to lean into current narratives that accompany the mention of Durban and its surroundings, that feel firmly rooted and routed in stories of disaster and collapse. Acting from this vantage point, we would like to nurture some radical and even outrageous thinking to re-vision parts of Durban with a set of prompts and AI image-generation to create visions that could surprise, inspire and catalyse a conceptual turn towards alternative prosperity.
